Period-Friendly-World-Myflow-FoundationKE

Every year on May 28th, the world comes together to mark Menstrual Hygiene Day, a day to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and push for a long-term change in how menstruation is understood and supported. On Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025, My Flow Foundation-Kenya pushes for a Period-Friendly World, a powerful call to action for individuals, communities, and institutions to unite in making periods safe, dignified, and barrier-free for all.

At My Flow Foundation-Kenya, we recognize that menstrual health is not just a hygiene issue—it is a human rights issue. In many parts of the world, including Kenya, menstruation is still surrounded by shame and silence. Girls miss school, women lack access to affordable sanitary products, and those who menstruate are often left without the information, support, or facilities they need to manage their periods safely and confidently.

A period-friendly world is one where menstruation is normal, not a source of stigma. It’s a world where every girl can attend school without fear of embarrassment, where menstrual products are accessible to all, and where governments and communities prioritize menstrual health in their policies and budgets.

Through our programs in menstrual health management, education, advocacy, and empowerment, we work every day to break barriers and encourage open conversations. We provide menstrual dignity packs, facilitate school and community workshops, support teen mothers, and push for inclusive policies that leave no one behind. But we know we can’t do it alone.

Creating a period-friendly world requires collective action. It calls on everyone—parents, teachers, leaders, boys and men, media, health workers, and policy makers—to speak out and take steps that promote dignity and equality for all who menstruate.

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, we recommit ourselves to this mission. We invite you to stand with us, speak up, and support efforts that ensure no girl or woman is held back simply because of her period. Together, let’s build a world where menstruation is no longer a limitation, but a natural part of life, embraced and supported with dignity.
